Hilton Head Island is rich in history, from its discovery by William Hilton in 1663 who sailed from Barbados in search of land suitable for raising indigo and rice, to its involvement in the Civil War and World War II. The Adventure Inn shares a part of the island's rich history. Named for William Hilton's ship the "Adventure", we are the oldest accommodation on the island. When first built in 1964 the Adventure Inn offered pristine sandy beaches, golf on the newly constructed Ocean course in Sea Pines, as well as guided bird, deer and boar hunting on land that is now Shipyard Plantation.
Hilton Head Island has undergone many changes since its rustic beginning in the early 1960's. The Adventure Inn has undergone many renovations and face lifts to afford our guests comfortable, modern accommodations while still maintaining its Southern Low Country charm. The Adventure Inn has been creating happy family vacation memories for our guests since 1965 when they first came to the island over the swing bridge as young children, to the present when they are returning as adults with their own young families. The Adventure Inn will always be their vacation home away from home.
